Can you believe that a reputable company like Lewmar used to manufacture 'nylon' gypsy's for their anchor windlasses? Whilst we were lucky enough to source a couple of new replacements from our favourite 2nd hand chandlery in La Rochelle "Les Puces de Mer"' www.pucesdemer.fr, we know they won't last long when subject to constant use when anchoring - just what we're planning this season! Following a quick trawl of the internet we found a foundry close to us here in Gloucestershire "DM Foundries LTD" www.dmfoundries.co.uk that was able to take our nylon gypsy and produce a bronze equivalent for less than a £100 - excellent service and value we think!

Hopefully this gypsy will stand the test of time and abuse!
