While working our way through the canals in North Carolina we were tryingt o fimd a place to stop for the night. The R.E. Mayo shrimp dock proved to be just the late evening remote spot we needed. Another boat we had been sailing with across the wide Pamlico River also tied up. Absolutely no one was around when all of us decided to take a walk with their little dog. Out of nowhere two women in a white pick up with a bull dog hanging out the window skidded to a stop and in an excited heavy southern accent said, "There's a bar down the road." "Well thanks!" was our reply. "There are two clubs," she added. "OK! Sounds good." "No, don't go there! The BEAR won't like you around her two CUBS," she exclaimed. Oh, the travails of the language barrier. We walked the other way, never seeing the "Bar" or the "Clubs". We did see huge swarms of mosquitos though.
