What a wonderful experience I had last week while obtaining my ASA certification with Blue Water Sailing School. Our learning vessel was LaBamba. Our captain was Jen Wirth. What an amazing woman and captain. She made me realize that women can be tough and confident. Our crew was awesome, Judy, Lori, Vicki, Donna and myself. Six women on a catamaran for 7 days. Yes, we did get some looks. However, it was like sailing boot camp. We were certified in Basic Keelboat, Basic Coastal, Bareboat Chartering and Cruising Catamarans. I feel much more confident taking the helm. As a matter of fact, I can't wait to get on her and sail.
