We're in Florida

We awoke in Florida today after eight long days of motorsailing through South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. Our typical day has been to pull up anchor around 6AM(the kids have grown accustom to sleeping through the sounds of the engines starting and the noise of the anchor chain rolling in). Because we are inside the ICW, the ride has been very comfortable so school has been done underway, with Lisa and I taking turns at the helm so the other can teach. It has been amazing how well the kids have adjusted to the constant movement every day and have done very well with limited time on land. Typically, we would drop anchor as the sun was going down and completing about 60 miles a day. That may not seem like much, but when you only average about 6 knots/hr it?? s pretty good. There has been very little opportunity to sail due to the narrow and winding rivers. The winds have been pretty strong out of the North East so it has been impossible to leave the ICW and sail down the coast. We did have one chance yesterday when the winds shifted to the west. After about three hours, the winds starting building to about 20 ??"25 knots and the seas were getting pretty uncomfortable so we ducked back in and continued down the ICW. We spent last night in Fernandina. What a cute town with lots of shops and good holding ground.
Happy Birthday ??" Nana, Joseph, Helen and of course our DJ
