Panama City to Isla Contadora, Las Perlas
22 August 2015
August 21 - 22 2015 We made an eight hour motor sail today to the Island of Contadora (a favorite weekend destination for vacationers from Panama City) and joined a fishing tournament fleet’s boats in the southern anchorage. We went ashore and rented a cart to tour the island stopping to have lunch on the beach and enjoying ice cream twice!! Bruce caught a Crevalle Jack on the way, but let him go (too big for him to eat alone). For you old timers out there you will probably remember that Isla Contadora hosted the Contadora Peace Accords in the 80’s which laid the foundation for peace in Central America. Many of the buildings from that era have been abandoned and are in ruins, but now a few beautiful homes and small hotels can be seen along the coastline.
