Santa Cruz Island - Puerto Ayora. Today we took a 30 minute bus ride up to the highlands to see sink holes and visit the giant tortoises, enjoying a barbeque lunch at a farm surrounded by the tortoises! Next stop was a sugar cane and coffee farm where we sampled raw sugar cane and Bruce tried the moonshine (YUK!). The final stop was downtown Puerto Ayora for some shopping and ice cream – yay!! Puerto Ayora (population 18,000) is home to the National Park Service and the Darwin Station Research Center.
