Bahia del Coco to Bahia de Culebra
22 March 2016
March 19 – 22, 2016 Back to marina life for a few days! We took a slip at Marina Papagayo to buy fuel and take on water before our Nicaragua passage. We were excited to meet two other cruising boats (we’ve found there are not many cruising this coast!) – Sven and Nancy (s/v Senta) and Linda and Dave (s/v Purrrfect) and enjoyed pool time and dinners in the wonderful marina restaurant with them. We rented a car with Linda and Dave for the Costa Rica check out process – as always an adventure! We drove to the airport for customs, then to immigration, then to the port captain, then to the bank to pay the departure fee, then back to the port captain – UGH! Now YAY! We are now legal to leave with our zarpe to Nicaragua – thank you Lord! We celebrated with a late (3:00 pm) lunch at Father Roosters (and a “copo” drink – Costa Rican shaved ice) and a trip to the best grocery store we’ve seen since leaving Panama – woohoo! Cheddar cheese, two wonderful 2” steaks, key lime Greek yogurt and Ben and Jerry’s New York Super Fudge Chunk ice cream – we are SO happy!
