June 10 – July 26, 2016 Not much going on – doing boat chores and hibernating inside away from the scorching heat! We read a lot and enjoyed a couple of potlucks with other cruisers during this time. Projects included replacing the sliders for the companionway with starboard (carried onboard our flight from US in 5’ lengths – that was an adventure in itself!!), refrigeration troubleshooting (new electronic control module ordered), mainsail removal and repair, awning refurbishing, inside nav chair reupholstered with navy ultraleather, rebuilt several blocks, installed wheels on dinghy, new lazy jacks, re-bed stanchions and genoa tracks (black 5200 – YUK!), removed staysail boom and rerigged staysail without boom, bought new storage bins and resorted all hardware (UGH!), plus dozens of other small projects too numerous to count! Oh yea, I broke my little toe!! We finished the Andy Stanley sermon series “Crazy Like Us” – the promise: When you become generous, you will give more, save more and consume less. More money does not generate more self control, more discipline or more contentment, and generous people don’t assume its theirs to consume. We must think like managers, not like consumers! We also started and finished a second series –“Tough as Nails”. Uncertainty is unavoidable, being fearful is optional. Andy reminded us that the faith of Jesus’ early followers was characterized by fearlessness, confidence in Jesus and love for others. As a Jesus follower, would you say the same about your faith???
Acts 10:2 He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly.
