Providencia to San Andres, Colombia
08 April 2014
Early rising for departure – then engine wouldn’t start! After Bruce jumped it we had a pleasant 8.75 hour sail to San Andres (55 nm). Kelley and Blake were disappointed with the fishing, and we were sad to have water in our lockers again. After four tries, we finally got the anchor to set – whew! San Andre’s history – Henry Morgan used this island, like Providencia, as a base from which to raid the passing Spanish treasure ships. Isla San Andres was awarded to Spain in 1786, but in 1821 after the Spanish-American Wars of Independence it became part of Colombia – 440 nm away. There is currently a bitter dispute between Nicaragua and Colombia about island ownership – the military presence here is significant.
Romans 1:17 This Good News tells us that God makes us ready for heaven – makes us right in God’s sight – when we put our faith and trust in Christ to save us. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith.
