Isla Tintipan to Cartagena
04 November 2014
We are back in civilization!! What a great way to celebrate our fourth wedding anniversary! Easy 8.5 hour motor to Cartagena – the Boca Chica entry (the captain opted for this channel as the Boca Grande entry is only 90’ wide bordered by rock walls built by the Spaniards 2’ underwater – yikes!) channel is flanked by two Spanish forts with high rises and a big shipping port inside the bay. We dropped anchor just off of Club Nautico, dinked into the marina and secured a slip and port agent to handle our Colombian paperwork. We moved into our new slip (probably 3-4 months here) bow first (stern tied to a mooring as there are no finger piers) – with access to the boat via a gangplank board from the fixed docks. We were pleasantly surprised at the condition of the marina – it is still undergoing construction, but the docks and bathroom facilities are in great condition – the laundry even looks like it could be operational shortly (the crew hopes!!). Looking forward to finding a grocery and ice cream!! Note the beautiful statue of Mary and the baby Jesus in the harbor – thank you Lord!
