August 2013 - we have just returned from 12 days and 700 miles at sea on the good ship Kokomo, with friends Mark & Julie. We re-visited the east coast of Malaysia, stopping at Tioman overnight to check in and pick up our essential duty free beverages. Light winds and a positive current saw our arrival in Redang 26 hours later and we were amazed that we were the only boat to occupy this gorgeous bright blue bay - we could hardly take our eyes off the water. We had it to ourselves almost the entire time, we swam with giant sea turtles (it's a marine park), played with turtle babies who were going to be released next full moon, had a wonderful dolphin escort, kayaked, visited the only resort for a couple of meals, had cocktails on the beach, and also sailed to Pulau Perhentian, Malaysia's north-most island on the east coast, close to the Thai border. It was a great trip!
