The crew paid some dues today. Visibility immediately after leaving the Cape Cod Canal shut down to 100-200- feet and remained such for most of the trip up to Boston. Thank heavens for reliable radar and Marie's keen eyes. We did get a break on the way into Boston where we were able to see half mile or better. We treated ourselves to one more night at Boston Yacht Haven and a fine dinner out. Well earned after a long 7 hour battle with the fog. Sorry no photos today ..but you know what fog looks like!

Qiuck and easy trip up from Cutthunk and through the Cape Cod Canal to the Sandwich Marina in the the Harbor of Refuge just inside the east entrance.
As you can see from the photo, we weren't alone in our transit. You can see the tug's tower just above the barge 's hull as he pushes it along.

Got off early and spent 7 hours in 4-6' quartering seas as we crossed Block Island sound. No wind today either. Cuttyhunk was awelcome sight when it finally emerged out of the glop.
We were amazed to find ourselves in the middle of some kind of sailboat rendezvous with more than eighty boats jammed into Cuttyhunk harbor. Very orderly and civil however.

Spent a delightful day just hanging out and catching up on some reading. Fishers is a beautiful and quite spot. We were treated to a marvelous sunset.

Marie and I decided to make Branford the turn around point. Grandchildren visiting ME and some emerging family and business obligations dictate a leisurely voyage home from here.
The trip to Fishers was 100% sailing. 10-15 knots apparent, wind on the beam smooth seas and clear skies...priceless. At last we are able to silence the iron wind and take advantage of the prevailing southwesterlies that have been in our face until now.

Skipper was obliged to dive into spares for a new alternator belt. Greased fingernails and blue language ensued. First you remove the refrigeration compressor and THEN you install the belt. Marie says it builds character.
Weather remains unpredictable with forecasts of PM t-showers that rarely materialize. Note photo of large cumulus cloud gaining altitude and a nimbus form...and then nothing.
