INTRODUCTION
The aim and purpose of the Club is to provide and encourage all aspects of sailing and power boating for club members. The club is primarily aimed at service personnel, and UK based civilians employed with in the SBA, and their dependants ("Entitled" personnel). In addition, a limited number of civilians ("non-entitled" persons) are permitted to join at the discretion of the Executive Committee. For subscription rates and details on how to become a member, please go to the Membership Information page.

OPENING HOURS
The club is normally open for sailing according to the following schedule:
Saturdays 1000 - 1700
Sundays 1000 - 1700 (Club racing every Sunday)
Wednesdays 1400 - 1700

Sailing may be possible at other times if a safety boat is prepared, and a qualified helm is on duty. Privately owned boats may be sailed at any time, without safety boat cover, entirely at the owner?? s risk.

On all scheduled sailing days an Officer of the Day (OOD) is appointed according to a monthly rota. The OOD will be an experienced sailing member and is responsible for all sailing activities on the day, including the booking out of boats to members. On Sundays, the OOD will also act as Race Officer, and an assistant OOD will be additionally be nominated to remain shore-based while the OOD is on the water.

SAILING LIMITS
While sailing is permitted, the Green Flag will be flying.
When the Red Flag is flying, no club sailing is permitted.

In high winds, sailing is limited as follows:
Up to 12 knots, no restrictions
12-18 knots, Only RYA Level 2 qualified helms
18 -25 knots, Only RYA Level 3 or higher qualified helms
Over 25 knots, No Sailing in club boats allowed (Red Flag raised)

As a general rule, all sailing in club boats must be conducted within sight of the club. This is the area bordered by Watson's Mole on one side, the Officers' Club on the other end. There are no limits on private boats, however good sense would dictate that someone at the club is aware of where you are going and when you will be back.

ALLOCATION OF BOATS
Members wishing to sail, must request a club boat from the OOD or Assistant OOD, and book it out in the relevant file. Any faults or defects in the boat should be logged in the same file at the end of the day.

TRAINING COURSES
RYA training courses are held periodically, (at extra cost) in dinghy sailing, power boating and occasionally offshore sailing. Training courses are available to non-members subject to availability. For information on scheduled courses, please refer to the Sailing & Course Calendar (from a link on the home page) or contact the Rear Commodore, Chris Dodds. (email: training@dhekeliasailing.com)
