About: |
We are Brian and Karen McKenzie. We are a middle aged married couple with three kids, 18, 19 and 22. We love boating, fishing, crabbing, etc. [...] Motor boats have been in our lives from the beginning but now I'm getting a real big itch to buy a sailboat, weekend sail until retirement then live aboard for a couple or three years and sail some islands. That's my wild idea, Karen laughs at me when my eyes gloss over as I babble about it but I know her and she would be so on board with it (pun intended) the moment I pulled the trigger. I am the introvert who is very picky about what I do or get involved in and she is the very free spirit who loves to do anything at the drop of a hat. We are a great fit!!!

I am a wanna-be sailor. I grew up around boats, (I own a 16' Harbercraft right now) mostly all motor boats but as a kid my dad and I refurbished a little 10' O'day Sprite, read a book about basic sailing and we were off. That's pretty much the extent of my sailing adventures. Over the past few [...]
years I some how hooked myself on reading, not just reading but reading books about people sailing. I couldn't figure out why I had taken such an interest in a subject I had never really been involved in before --- Then I read a book called "A Sail of Two Idiots" by Renee Petrillo. This book started to challenge me. It forced me to ask "Could we...???" nahhh, hmmmm, maybe, nahhhhh, then I started telling myself "I think we can do this!!!". The more I read and the more boats I look at the more I see this life style as a possibility.
