WAHOO!!! After four long months of
Due West hibernating inside the boatyard shed being repaired from our Feb. 22nd boat fire, she was FINALLY moved outside, into the Seattle SUNSHINE just in time to celebrate Solstice.
And what a celebration it was--Over 1,000 naked bicyclists were using the boatyard as a staging area for body-painting for the Fremont Solstice Parade, and
Due West was front and center for all the action! Amazing body painting and costumes, and the number of naked bikers that used to number in the 10's are now in the 1,000's... and the Parade was great fun too.
Kirk has been taking advantage of the great weather and getting lots of projects done, including re-bedding all of our chain plates. [For landlubbers, these help hold the mast up.]
Tomorrow he'll tackle painting the boot stripe and cove stripe. Then with any luck the boatyard will be all done with everything else and splash us on Monday.
Being temporarily homeless has been stressful at times, moving 10-times in 4 months wasn't easy. But we're very grateful to our wonderful friends who've taken us in, and let us house-sit, house-boat sit, boat-sit, and cat-sit so we could get our kitty fixes along the way. We can't thank you enough!
