Finally after five-and-a-half months, Due West was returned to us in mid-July in "like-new" condition: fire damage all repaired; repainted head-liner (ceiling); re-varnished cabin sole (floors); and brand new upholstery.
Like the Phoenix rising from the ashes...we are THRILLED to have her back and to be living in our floating-home once again. As the photos below show, she looks better than ever. Though we would never wish what we've gone through on anyone, it is wonderful to see her looking so bristol.
As we posted back in April,
choosing our new upholstery, though a "first-world-problem" was still a bit daunting.
We settled on a multi-tone light tan weave, which we hope will hide the dirt/stains ok, and brightened it up with throw pillows in blues and greens to make the interior more "tropical."

This view from the Salon looking forward shows some of our beautiful, bright re-finished floors.
We are also loving sleeping in our cozy pullman berth again after almost 6-months, there's nothing quite like sleeping in your own bed!
And Heidi just finished up an "art-project" on the head mirror frame to brighten up our head and put a smile on our faces first thing in the morning.
Due to being five-and-a-half months behind in our boat projects, we've sadly had to postpone our long-term sailing adventures for yet another year... Though insurance covered a lot of the repairs, we were also out-of-pocket quite a bit, and hope to still be leaving in the fall of 2015.
In the mean time, we're seriously thinking about getting kittens again!?! Just hoping we can train them not to shred our new upholstery! LOL...
