Day 4 to New Caledonia

We hit the trough just before dark last night. It consisted of a 180 degree wind shift and a bunch of rain. Rain was no problem but the wind shift made for a bouncy few hours as we had the waves still coming from behind at the same time as the new waves from directly ahead. Lots of course changes later we were now hard on the wind sailing northwest which slowly changed to southwest as the night went on. This morning we are sailing along with the screecher up in calm seas and nice weather. A shackle holding one of the mainsheet blocks came loose causing it to smash one of the solar panels. Only 186 miles yesterday due to the trough, 346 to go.
