Les voici enfin arrives!!!!! les dernieres minutes ont ete tres longues, tout etait fin pret et bien sur les colliers traditionnels a la fleur de Tiare. Quel bonheur.... Tu nous manque Papa, Gros gros bisous. Nana.
Here they are!!!!! The last minutes were the longest, everything was ready and of course we came along with the traditional Tiare flowers. We miss my dad very much....

We are right in the center of Papeete and I love it! We are in the center of the action, the noise, the traffic, the boutiques, the smells....after three months in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and small islands, the feeling of a big city is just wonderful. I love just to be able to take off in town, have a drink at an outdoor café and look at the people passing by. We had a few things to take care of like finding a place to fix our shredded spinnaker, locate the espresso dealer of Papeete, impeller, LED mast light, and big time grocery shopping.... I also spend a lot of time at the open market where you can find a lot of fresh produces, fish, and delicious cheap Chinese lunches. We are getting the boat ready for a much awaited visit.... Mom, jean-mi, my brother, Karine, his wife, Pauline and Axel, my niece and nephew, are coming Monday July 7th, ....WE ARE SO EXCITED!!!!!!!...I am going to miss my dad very much though; he has a knee problem and cannot make it. Well this blog entry will not be too long, there is still so much to do...
Nous sommes juste au centre de la ville de Papeete et j'adore ca! Nous sommes en pleine action, le bruit, la circulation, les boutiques, les odeurs....apres trois mois au milieu de petites iles du pacifique, cette grande ville est fantastique. J'aime pouvoir m'aventurer en ville , prendre un café a une terrasse et regarder les gens passer. Nous avons du rechercher pas mal de choses, un specialiste pour reparer le spi dechire, un represent nespresso (nous en sommes a la derniere cartouche de café!), une lampe LED pour le mat, et puis faire les courses.. Je passe aussi pas mal de temps au marche ou l'on peut trouver des produits frais de toutes sortes et de delicieux petits plats chinois pas chers (ce qui est rare a Papeete). Nous preparons et nettoyons O'Vive pour l'arrivee tres attendue de Maman, Jean-mi, Karine, Pauline et Axel le lundi 7 Juillet, nous sommes tres heureux!!!! Papa va bien nous manquer mais son genoux l'empeche de voyager, quell dommage. Il y a encore beaucoup a faire alors a bientot....

We are moored at the Quai in downtown Papeete. We have been busy soaking up the big city! More when we get a chance. Nous sommes a quai a Papeete et quelle joie d'etre dans une ville!!!!!

6/18/2008 Chez Valentine et Gaston, Toau (Tuamotus ,French Polynesia). Just north of Fakarava, lay another small atoll called Toau. Valentine, Gaston and their relatives (12) have been welcoming cruisers here since 2002 and it is a little piece of their life in paradise that they invite you to share with them for a few days The little anchorage on buoys is perfectly calm and valentine's cooking is amazing. The day of our arrival, Gaston went lobstering at night (3am) and Steve and Jay decided to go along with them, Valentine warned them that Gaston was running on coral .. Actually he is flying, after about 10 minutes, the guys could see him in the distance, and after another 5 minutes he disappeared behind the corner. Gaston, a gas lantern in one hand, a basket in a backpack was to score 20 lobsters, our guys did not see one and were having a good laugh back at the base where they waited for Gaston until 5:30am! We had our first lobsters in French Polynesia and it was a feast, Valentine and Gaston, Dyonne and Steve (Orca III), Marg and Jay (Malachi) and another german catamaran (Aho) were there to share the good time. The next day, the guys went to help Gaston to build a fish trap and put it together in the beautiful turquoise waters. It was very interesting and this time the guys felt good by really shortening the time to make it and be a real asset to Gaston who would have taken two days to make it by himself. The kids play volleyball, swing around in the boson's chair on Orca III, snorkel and play monopoly, Schooling is decreasing big time, we are almost finished for the year (they are already out at home) As you can see another great place , great people, good friends and good weather can not get that much better

ooh yes we miss you but you are in your heart . Au nord de Fakarava, se trouve un petit atoll, Toau, ou Valentine et Gaston acueillent les voiliers de passage depuis 2002. C'est un petit bout de paradis ou ils nous invitent avec leur famille a partager leur vie de tous les jours qui pour nous est pleine de surprises Le soir meme de notre arrivee, Gaston partait a la peche a la langouste vers 3 heures du matin, les garcons etaient interesses de se joindre a lui et Gaston fut d'accord Valentine nous a un peu averti, Gaston court sur le recif en attrapant les langoustes . Elle n'a pas menti!!! Gaston ne court pas , il semble voler une lanterne de camping dans une main, un gros panier a laniere dans le dos, de bonne chaussures en plastique et voila au bout de 10 minutes, Steve et Jay ne voyait que la lanterne brillee au loin puis il disparut derriere la bay . Ils en furent soufflés mais ont bien rigole!!!! Le soir meme Valentine preparait un festin dans son restaurant, nous etions quatre bateaux (Malachi, Orca III, O'Vive et un autre catamaran allemand tres sympa, nous avions laisse les 7 enfants sur Malachi) plus Valentine et Gaston. Nos hotes mangent avec nous (cela se fait comme cela meme si le repas est payant), cela se passe comme une reunion de famille sur une grande table sous la paillote a cote de l'ocean ., C'etait delicieux . Tres sympa Le lendemain, Gaston devait fabriquer un piege a poisson et le disposer dans le lagon (en effet il doit 200 poissons en echange de la reparation de son moteur a un monsieur de Tahiti), les garcons cette fois ont ete tres effectifs car le piege etait fabrique et en place en un peu plus d'une demi-journee, cela aurait pris a peu pres 2 jours a Gaston . C'etait tres interessant et puis ils adorent faire des choses comme cela ensemble Les enfants font du volley, nagent, tounent et virevoltent dans la chaise boson de Orca III (leur favorite activitee!) et jopuent monopoly L'ecole est pratiquement finie pour l'annee, quelque cours a finir dans la semaine qui suit et ils seront libres jusqu'en aout Comme vous le voyez, un temps splendid, des amis, des hotes tres sympathiques dans un cadre merveilleux, il ne nous manquent rien ou Presque . 6/08/2008 Snorkeling in the Tetamanu pass (Fakarava, Tuamotus ,French Polynesia). After 6 hours of boisterous sail from Kauehi, we arrived to the south end of Fakarava. The pass is impressive with breakers on each side but it is pretty large and ok if you go through around slack tide. The anchorage is beautiful but our anchor got wrapped around a coral head at first, we managed to get it off and re-anchored, still pretty much in the middle of coral heads, there is not much sand patches (we checked with our mask) but this time we buoying our anchor for later retrieval, hopefully that will work otherwise we will have to dive for it, it is pretty deep . 6/9/2008- The next day, we decided to try snorkeling the pass at slack tide, it was about 2:30 but the sun was not shinning making for a lower visibility at first, but it was nevertheless beautiful. The yellow, white and pink corals, all the different small colorful fishes and the majestic king of the sea, Mr. Black Tip shark We saw sting rays, enormous parrot fishes, groupers, and many more fishes we had never seen before, it was so fantastic, we did it twice, and we can hardly wait to do it again tomorrow, the visibility should be even greater if the sun is fully there!!!! Notre depart de Kauehi pour Fakarava a ete beni par des vents de 25-28 noeuds, donc un voyage rapide puis l'entrée de la passe de Tetamanu au sud de Fakarava. Cela est un peu intimidant car on peut voir les vagues cassant sur les recifs de chaque cote de la passe mais en fait le passage est large et tout s'est tres bien passé. Nous avons mouille juste derriere la passé dans une eau turquoise, c'est tres joli Le lendemain, a 14h30, nous sommes tous alles plonger la passe au changement de mare (le courant s'arrete), et quelle experience L'eau est transparente et le corail rose, blanc, jaune avec une multitude de poisons colores .magnifique!!!! Le soleil n'etait pas totalement la et la visibilite peut etre encore meilleure donc nous retournons cet après-midi!!!! Nous avons vu tellement de varietes differentes de poissons et puis le roi de l'ocean le requin a ailerons noirs, tres beau et innofensif (tant que vous ne vous amusez pas a lui toucher la queue ) les requins que j'aime.
