The Fort Lauderdale Surprise!

07 August 2008
Wayne finally reached Ft Lauderdale on July 30th. I had not seen him in 2 months so I decided to fly down over the weekend and surprise him. He had no clue that I was coming and I could hardly contain my excitement when we spoke on the phone. I found the marina easily (thanks to the GPS system) however, I had more difficulty finding him. As I approached the boat I saw John (the Captain from Admiral) sitting on the step of the boat and noticed a unidentified person washing the boat behind John.
When John saw me he said, "Oh hello, Wayne you have a visitor". I couldn't believe when the stranger washing the boat turned around and it was Wayne! He had lost at least 10 lbs, his hair was long, with big blond curls. No way would I have known that he was my husband. He was so excited to see me and couldn't believe I was there! We had a great few days doing errands and picking up things for the boat. I now know how men feel sitting in the mall waiting for their wives to finish shopping. I had a designated seat in West Marine where I sat daily for 4 days!
The good news is the warranty work is almost complete. The generator, AC , microwave and washer are all going to be installed within the week. Our new dingy was delivered and I just love it. The boat designer delivered it himself and did a great job. I can't wait to "tootle" around in it and show it off. Wayne's crew - our friends from home - Tom and Fred are flying down the end of next week and they should be heading home Friday or Saturday. The estimated time of arrival is another 7 days...... around August 23rd ... I just can't wait to have him home and the boat.
