Guest Blog: Cruising with the Baars' as seen through the eyes of Remco and Margot...
Our adventure started off on Sunday. We flew into the impressive T&C airport and took a cab to Sapodilla Beach. The cab driver was a bit confused as he usually drops people off at hotels or resorts. He must have thought that we were some pretty crazy tourists. "Yep, just bring us to the beach, we'll figure it out from there". As we approached we immediately saw Menno and Daniel playing on the beach. The weather was absolutely beautiful and we were eager to get our vacation started. We dinghyed over to the boat to put up our things and get into the island spirit. Val gave us a tour of the boat and we were to sleep in the boys' bedroom and they were going to sleep on the dining room table/bed. We put on our bathing suits and headed to the beach. That night we had our first sundowner, which quickly became our favorite part of the day. We went over to Dream Weaver and had rum drinks with Paul and Karen.
Monday we spent the day on Sapodilla beach and went snorkling at a few wrecks. We met two very friendly couples who were staying at a nice home on Sapodilla beach. They were here from Charlottesville, VA. and were spending a week here. We immediately struck up a friendship with them and they gave us some fun beach stuff to use. Of course, by the end of the day we had our usual sundowner on the beach and the boys blew there conch horns.
Tuesday we headed out to West Caicos. The weather was absolutely perfect. Crystal clear water consisting of every shade of blue. We were lucky enought to see a sea turtle poking its head up from the water. We anchored into a newly built marina. Us and Dream Weaver were the only boats there as the island is fairly remote. We saw some workers as they're still developing the island. We went snorkling and saw a stingray and some really neat coral heads. One was huge and looked like a brain. It was a nice relaxing day.
