The Captain and Mr Howell went ashore in the morning to pick up some fresh baguettes and take Daisy on her morning walk. Today we are heading 20 miles south to Les Saintes,a small group of islands very picturesque and charming. We had a great sail and were of course trailing our fishing lines. Zing, the line goes out, not on Eira, but Narcissus has a Mahi-Mahi on the line!! The girls work to bring it in and have it on the swim platform and are trying to figure out how to get it into the cockpit without a gaff! The boat hook! But, the Mahi Mahi is too smart and slips away, right in front of their eyes!! A tough loss! An exciting sail but no fresh fish for dinner tonight. We are anchored off Goat Island which of course has lots of goats on it. The next morning Jill, Menno, Daniel, John and Daisy decide to go for a walk up to the small fort on the island. Well Daisy got struck with a machete by one of the goat herders, right between the eyes on the top of her head. Menno and Daniel carried her down to the dinghy and they rode over to Bourg des Saintes, the little town in this island group. They were told to go to the Pharmacy and the Pharmacist called the local Doctor who rode his motor bike over and was able to stitch Daisy up in a back room of the Pharmacy. The Doctor said that his patients don't like it when people bring their animals to his office so he works out of the pharmacy! Daisy was very lucky, her eyes were missed and the bleeding was kept to a minimum, no artery was struck however the machete did cut into the bone. It was truly amazing how well and quickly Daisy recovered. She is fine and running around being as crazy as ever. It was a very hard lesson for all of us. That afternoon the Eira Tribe went snorkling and saw some great corals and fish. We moved the boats over to Bourg des Saintes in the afternoon.
