Two more in the Box
02/27/2007

February 25, 2007 (Sunday) It was time to start our journey back to Saint Martin, this time sailing to the French side of the island. It was a beautiful day and a perfect sail. Just ask Johnny who caught a nice fat Jack and 10 lb Yellow Fin Tuna during the sail! The tuna steaks were bigger than most we have ever seen Guess what is for dinner tonight, yum! We anchored in Marigot which is another lovely town.

February 26, 2007 (Monday) Today we spent most of the day in town. Hiking to Fort Lois with breathtaking views of most of the French side, breakfast and dinner out, and can't miss the local market for souvenirs, food, bagettes, crepes, ice cream etc. We got in all we could as this was going to be our last day with the Baars.

February 27, 2007 (Tuesday) Jeanette and Johnny have to leave Paradise and return to the real world today. We are very sad. Val, Menno, Daniel, John, and Daisy make this life seem so easy and so much fun. We were so grateful to be able to experience their life of cruising. We had an amazing trip and can not thank them enough for the wonderful experiences we shared with them along the way. The time spent together will not be forgotten!!!

Shell Beach
02/24/2007

February 24, 2007 (Saturday) More fun on the beach and snorkeling before we cruise over to Gustavia, the capital of St. Barts. It is a cute French town which we stroll through. When it started getting hot, we headed for Shell Beach where most of the women wore one pieces (or should we say two pieces minus one?). The kids had fun jumping off the volcanic rocks while the adults held their breathes for the heights being attempted. Jeanette couldn't stop collecting shells for future art projects. The water was wonderful and it was a great day!!! The boys had a sleep over on Carapan so the adults could experience some of the night life in port. We were so wild we could not make it much past sailor's midnight=979pm!!!

Sundowners with Harrison and Calista??
02/22/2007

February 22, 2007 (Thursday) After breakfast, we set sail for St. Barts. It is a small French Island about 15 miles from St. Maarten. After several hours of sailing, and Jeanette "finding her sea legs" we arrive and anchor at Anse ("Beach") de Colombier. There are no words to describe this cove but to say it is a true paradise which is no wonder Harrison Ford owns a house on top of the cliffs overlooking this amazing place. The sunset was perfect. We walked the beach, had "sundowners" with our second "Steve and Lisa" and children Ben and Emma from the sailboat " Carapan." We enjoyed getting to know them and their two children over the next couple of days.

The swell onto the beach was strong so we had a couple of" dingy episodes"... Trying to leave the beach with all six of us and Daisy with a big swell coming in made for some pretty humorous accidents which kept us all laughing for long after! Tonight we got to have tuna complements of the first "Steve and Lisa" we met!. We can never get too much fresh fish, and the cook, Menno, knows just how to grill it!

February 23, 2007 (Friday) We took a hike on the beautiful cliffs of volcanic rock with amazing views of other parts of St. Barts. John and Daniel had to set out with Carapan's children, Ben and Emma, to finish the Fort they were building over looking the cove. It was an impressive fort, what creativity. Johnny and Menno snorkeled and swam with the turtles. Everyone enjoyed a perfect day of playing and relaxing even Daisy could not decide whether to swim, sleep on the kayak, sleep in the dingy, run afer waves, etc so many decisions. Then, Val had a dinner party for 10 on EIRA, making it all look so easy, it was a "festive" evening with Carapan. Johnny played the guitar and yes, Val sang!
