Thanksgiving Day
24 November 2005 | Coccoa Beach, Florida
We have found the warmer weather!! Yesterday it was chilly in the morning so I baked muffins- this helps to warm up the boat! Later in the day we bakd a batch of peanut butter Kiss cookies to enjoy! We have spent the last two days motor sailing down the ICW, making 50 miles a day. We just dropped the hook in Cocoa Beach and were welcomed by two manatee!! I did manage to -gasp- run aground this morningg!! It was just a LITTLE run aground, Menno was able to get us off the sandbar that had crept into the middle of the ICW with no warning at all!!I guess I need to update all on our Run Aground records- Menno-3 Val-1 ! Yep , Menno has had the unforunate experience to put EIRA on a sandbar three times. In his defense, he is at the helm 80% of the time. I am teaching the young 'uns when these unfortunate events occur. No harm has been done to the boat, only our pride is a bit bruised. The ICW does have quite a bit of shoaling along its course, the guide books are not able to keep up with all of the changes. The corps of engineers do not dredge the Ditch as much any more due to lack of monies.I think we need to head somewhere where the water is crystal clear and we can see the bottom.. hmm. Bahamas sound good to me!
Well for Thanksgiving dinner, we are not having turkey, we have decided that everyone will make a special dish for dinner. Menno is preparing steak, I will bake some corn bread muffins, Daniel is making the fruit salad and John is preparing the green beans and making his "special salad" ( I think it has tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots and apples!) Happy Turkey Day and I am finally nice and warm!!
