Our Journey has begun! We left Pompano Beach Sunday, December 4, at 430PM. Greg and Michael escorted us out through the Hillsboro Inlet in their boat. It was rather busy on the water for the first 3-4 hours with all of the cruise ships and commercial vessels out in the Gulf Stream. The boys watched a movie then we had dinner and did some star gazing from the cockpit. The lights from the Florida coast were quite bright most of the way accross the Gulf Stream. The boys climbed into bed and slept through the night even though it was a bit rolly. Menno and I set up our 3 hour watches and that worked well. We made great timing and arrived on the Bahama Bank a little too early so we had to stand off until sunrise and then make our way into West End.
We cleared into customs and then were able to take down the yellow quarantine flag that must be flown when you first arrive in a country. After you have cleared customs then you take down the "Q" flag and can raise the flag of the Bahamas and this must be flown as long as you are in the county.
The boys could not believe how blue, blue and clear the water is here! We can see the fish swimming all aound the dock and boat!! They immediately grabbed their fishing poles and caught yellow snapper, red snapper, grunts and puffers!! It was so much fun! We had snapper for dinner our first night here complements of Daniel and John!
