Bumpy Lumpy Sail!
22 January 2006 | Waderick Wells, Central Bahamas
We decided to up anchor today-forecast called for east winds 15-20 knots. That is ok, we are heading south so should have a brisk sail over the 12 miles to our next stop. Well. The forecast was wrong. It was blowing 25-30 knots out of the southeast and it was not a pretty sight! We started out and thought- ok - it will calm down a bit- but it didn't. We considered turning around but we were already at the half way mark so decided to forge ahead. The seas were all confused on the Sound and it was very wet and bumpy! Very wet and bumpy! We were out in it for 2 1/2 hours. Daniel and John were fantastic, they did not complain at all. We were all sitting in the cockpit and Daisy was huddled up to the boys. She was sitting on them and needed help staying wedged between them so she wouldn't slide all over the place! The boys were real troopers! We arrived in Waderick Wells and tonight are securely tied up to one of the moorings. We briefly went ashore to check in with the park ranger then stopped by Dalilah to compare war stories! They also sailed south with us today. We fared slightly better than they did- there front hatch came open and with the many waves crashing across the bow this resulted in a soaked matress, sheets and pillows! I'm taking some fresh water over to Jill in the morning so she can rinse the salt water out. Yes, having a water maker is wonderful! We came home had dinner and then it was family movie night. We completed the second book, Harry Potter the Chamber of Secrets so we had to watch the DVD! It was great! Thanks, Laura! Well, tomorrow is Monday. a school day so I best call it a night!
