Pacific Puddle Jump - Day 23
09 June 2017 | Pacific

Another rough night with very little sleep for anyone; the easiest thing was to be underway again and so as soon as dawn broke, we had the motor cranked to put more miles behind us. The weather gradually improved, the swell eased down to the forecast 2M and with 15+ knots of breeze we were averaging 6.5 knots through the water. We've ticked off another 81 miles, and are now less than 290 from Nuku Hiva. The "Little Guy" as our emergency rudder is now being called, continues to perform well and with daily scrutiny and tightening of screws as needed, we're pretty happy with how he's looking. If we can maintain our current daily mileage, we should be safely on anchor by Tuesday PM ..... that's only 4 more (non) sleeps!
M.Rouge has been looking at alternative roosting options and has been eying off the flat surface above our davits; unfortunately his preferred location is slap bang between our two D400 wind generators. We certainly don't wish for him to tangle with the blades and so have been actively discouraging him from attempting to land anywhere other than the bow or midships.
All well onboard.
