Pacific Puddle Jump - Day 24

09 June 2017 | Pacific
Jill
We moved into new territory - we're now on our longest passage ever with 24 consecutive days at sea. Our previous best was St Helena to Suriname in 2014, a passage of over 3400NM over 23 days. The weather has been ok today, with the gods actually blessing us with almost 1 knot of positive current, 16 knots SE'ly and a not so lumpy sea. We've managed to cover another 90NM, meaning that Nuka Hiva is now less than 200NM away . The "Little Guy" continues to perform stoutly and is showing no signs of wear and tear or fatigue. We humans on the other hand are very much looking forward to a peaceful nights rest but with a 2.6M swell now forecast, we'll sleep purely because we are exhausted.

M.Rouge has now disembarked; he found a boobie friend out on the water this morning and obviously decided that avian company was more to his taste. The funny little dude tightrope walked down the starboard rail to midships, made a clacking sound (so long and thanks for all the fish in boobie perhaps ??) and then flew off. His final gesture - to make a perfect landing between the wind generators before soaring away..... guess that was giving us the "bird". He's been fun company and we hope that his next hosts get as much pleasure from having him aboard as we did. Bonus for us is that guano housekeeping duties are over!

All well onboard.
