Voyage to Vava'u - Day 4

The SE trades have continued to elude us and so after reviewing up to date GRIB files, we decided to adjust our sail plan and switched to sailing wing on wing from 1830. With the sea state remaining at 1 to 1.5M, overall we enjoyed a comfortable night's sailing, clocking up an average speed of just under 6 knots for the 24 hours to 0800 today.
There has been very little wildlife to see other than a very large mahi mahi leaping after prey and the occasional flying fish. Luckily, there do not seem to be kamakazi squadrons around here and there has only been one poor unfortunate fish land on deck so far. We had been anticipating seeing humpbacks however other than a juvenile that was exploring the lagoon at Maupihaa, we have not succeeded with any whale watching .... perhaps as we get closer to Tonga.
A very Happy Big 4 0 birthday to you Nicole - enjoy the Koh Samui full moon and all the associated celebrations for the "Festival of You". Have sent big love and hugs from us both via C&I.
All well onboard.
