Our last night in Camarinas was spent at anchor with the wind still blowing although thankfully not as strong as previous nights. Maurice and I did however have our own personal doubts about whether we would be able to leave at all in the next week especially as more winds were forecast.
At 10am we got everything ready and set off, and were pleased that the wind and sea were tamer than the day before. We reached Cape Finisterre in 2 hours and although a little uncomfortable we passed with no trouble. Our relief of passing safely was satisfied further by being followed by some small dolphins for 15 minutes.
Our journey continued until both engine and sail,with two more visits by dolphins along the way. We reached Bayona at 9pm, made a mad dash to the fuel berth before the tide dropped below our 2 metre level (we were down to diesel fumes ) before finding an anchorage for the night.
George made our supper of sweet and sour chicken and rice, whilst we showered and tidied up. We then sat on deck and watched a movie on the laptop.
It was a calm and peaceful night with hardly any movement except when an occasional boat went by. We would have loved to have stayed a day to explore but need to get closer to Lisbon. So anchors up at 8am and another long day ahead, we hope with some wind. We will return here when we eventually sail back to the Hamble.
