Preparations while we wait!

Elaine/Warm/Mid 70's and breezy
First thing this morning, while the winds were light, we removed the foresail and stowed it in the sailbag leaving it on deck for the time being. We also moved and secured the dinghy underneath Elle & I. We have rented a car from Enterprise for the weekend. We will pick the car up on Friday and have it til Monday. It was a great "weekend" deal - so, ;no matter what, we will use the car this weekend. We have also reserved a room at a Comfort Inn in Richmond, just in case! It was a day of sun and clouds in the mid 70's and we spent the remainder of the day relaxing as we waited for updates on Matthew. The boatyard was a beehive of activity; they hauled boats all day and will begin again tomorrow a.m. Boat US Insurance has offered to pay half the haul out charges for any customers hauling their boats out onto the hard. As of this afternoon, it looked as though Matthew may hit somewhere on the S.C. and Georgia coast. Evacuations become official in Charleston at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow. The hurricane is now 400 miles in diameter providing a large area for extremely high winds, loads of rain and storm surge. It seems strange to be sitting and waiting but there is nothing else we can do until probably Friday. We just keep trying to remain hopeful and simultaneously feeling so horrible for the people of Haiti!
