Day's End

22 March 2017 | Vero Beach ICW MM 952.0 at Anchor
Elaine & Lawrence/ Sunny/80 degrees
They say the two happiest days in a boater's life are the day they buy their boat and the day they sell it. Well, today is the day. We have sold S/V Elle & I. We bought her in 1997 and have had 20 wonderful years on her. The last five years we've been cruisers and we will miss the life we have lived and the wonderful friends we have made. Still, it is time to head back to our home in Williamstown, MA. This is our goodbye post, but please, come see us in Billsville! Stay in touch!

Always Wonderful

01 March 2017 | Vero Beach ICW MM 952.0 at Anchor
Lawrence/ 83 degrees/ South winds around 10kt.
Elaine always makes something wonderful for dinner. Tonight it was a Spanish tortilla and tempura green beans, but every night Dinner on S/V Elle & I is a treat. By the way, she did all of this on a grill.

Dolphins

16 February 2017 | Vero Beach ICW MM 952.0 at Anchor
Lawrence/ 80 degrees/ Light northwest winds
Today we had 4 or 5 dolphins playing and fishing beside our boat. Elaine took 45 shots and she has finally scored her first Dolphin head shot. It took amazing persistence and a lot of luck! Way cool!

The Quiet Life

15 February 2017 | Vero Beach ICW MM 952.0 at Anchor
Lawrence/ 84 degrees/ strong Southwest winds clocking around to the North
Elaine and I don't really do much. We live on a boat, which has it's own peculiar problems ( dealing with an ice box turned into a refrigerator, running a generator, dealing with never ending mold and mildew). Elaine finds all of this very distressing,so having Sharon and Ahti over last night
for drinks and appetizers was a nice lift to our day.
Today the wind has been blowing like stink out of the Southwest, which kicks a light boat like ours all over the place. Still, our anchor held, and we were able to get across the ICW so Elaine could get her hair cut. A haircut really picks my lady's spirits way up. We had a wonderful dinner tonight and the wind has backed off somewhat this evening. It has been warm which is always a plus. It's a quiet life.
Fair winds & Smooth sailing,
Elaine & Lawrence S/V Elle & I

Good News and Great Weather

13 February 2017 | Vero Beach ICW MM 952.0 at Anchor
Lawrence/ 84 degrees/ winds clocking around to the Northeast/cooler tonight
The weather here has been spectacular. They had 20" of snow in our home town in Northwest Massachusetts. We went to the beach yesterday, since our dinghy finally seems repaired( it hasn't lost air pressure for three days now). Today we got water, gasoline and a new 6 in 1 screwdriver (to replace the one I dropped in to the drink). Sharon and Ahti on S/V Perfect Match showed up today. They were our neighbors on the hard in Deltaville while we both worked on getting our boats back into the water. It's nice to see them again.
Tonight Elaine made pizza on the grill. She was not happy with the outcome, but has plans to make the next one better. I scarfed down almost 2/3 of the pizza and loved every bite. If she makes the next one even better, it is unlikely that she will get even a 1/4. I am one lucky guy!
Fair winds & Smooth sailing,
Elaine & Lawrence S/V Elle & I

Test Day

11 February 2017 | Vero Beach ICW MM 952.0 at Anchor
Elaine/Sunny 76 degrees with a light ESE breeze
The first item on today's list was to test the dinghy! We are still holding our breaths, but it seems the dinghy is finally fixed. It only took 8 tries! We then grabbed the bus and spent an hour in Publix. The frig is PACKED! We are looking forward to seeing Sharon and Ahti , S/V Perfect Match, who should arrive on Monday. Mike and Bev stopped by and gave me a beautiful flower. I only wish I knew what it is and that I had a suitable vase for it. Tomorrow is a beach day with expected 82 degrees while our family up North is expecting 10-14 inches of that dreadful white stuff! Life is good!
