Lignumvitae Key to Little Shark River

16 February 2015
Elaine
Departed Lignumvitae for Little Shark River in light winds and a lovely day. On route, we passed several flocks of white pelicans which are pictured above. The day rather quickly turned into rolling Gulf waters of at least 2 feet on the stern quarter making us roll from one side to another. We departed at 06:30 hours and finally arrived in Little Shark River at 14:30 hours. The anchor set well the first time in a sheltered area, although we knew, no internet or phone service! It was a long day of rolling stuff (despite careful storing) flying about down below, dinner yet to prepare and straightening up below deck. Although the winds were predicted to be 10-15 knots, in actuality they were 15 - 20 and gusting above that. Tuesday was predicted to be a bit stronger with 15-20. I really dreaded to leave the next a.m. but Lawrence was correct in knowing we should leave and try to get to Marco before the Cold Front came sweeping through with much colder temps and MUCH stronger winds. We departed the next morning at 06:30 hours for Marco to get to a protected anchorage at Smokehouse Bay in Marco Island.
