Onward to Blackwater Sound

19 March 2015 | Lignumvitae Key
Elaine/Sunny 85
What a delightful evening on the mooring at the State Park! During the day Lawrence got to see 2 bull dolphin fish and I saw a large sea turtle! It was also nice to have internet back - it is silly to think that we missed having it on our one night in Little Shark River! We departed Lignumvitae just before 09:00 to catch the high tide (all 6 inches of it) for most of the way through the skinniest waters of the trip! The lowest reading we saw was 4'10" for only a second and I suspect it was actually closer to 5'. The trip was successful as we never even bumped once. Again it was very hot with almost no breeze. We arrived in Blackwater Sound at 14:00 anchoring right off the channel. The wind steadily picked up and cooled the cockpit wonderfully! We weighed anchor at 07:30 and are on our way to Miami. So here we are, Thursday, March 19 and truly heading home to family and friends. It is both sad and exciting. Leaving this glorious weather, water and cruising friends is difficult; yet the time with family and friends is so short and welcomed! We are so truly blessed to have the best of both possible worlds!!!
