8 Miles to Vero

Elaine/Warm with showers
It was a quiet evening last night at Coca Beach and we departed about 7:00 a.m. to continue south. It was a great travel day with light southeast winds, lots of sun and storms all around us. Somehow our timing was such that storms went either to the north or to the south of us! There was one very large storm that passed to our north and the black and lightening were amazing! Anchored early - around 2:00 p.m. having traveled 45.5 miles in about 7 hours. There is one other boat anchored here with us; although, during dinner a catamaran came flying south until he came to the bridge just a few hundred yards north of us. He came to a rather abrupt halt and sat for several minutes. We suspect he was weighing the situation, i.e. the clearance under the bridge. After several minutes he turned back north slightly and dropped the hook. The last several bridges we passed under today, many at high tide, had readings of only about 62 to 63 feet instead of the normal 65 feet. It is still 75 degrees although the rain has started here - just a gentle rain with virtually no wind. Let's hope it stays that way. Tomorrow we will make our way into the mooring field at Vero Beach where we will stay through Thanksgiving. We are looking forward to reconnecting with friends, doing a bit of shopping and, if the weather permits, having a bit of beach time. It certainly is wonderful to be in this warm weather again!
