Matanzas Inlet ICW MM 792
05 April 2016 | Matanzas Inlet ICW MM 792
Lawrence/ 71 degrees/ Very Sunny/Strong North Winds
Today went so much better than we expected. For reasons I don't understand we got a tidal push for much longer and farther North up the ICW. The strong Northerlies predicted for today didn't materialize until around 14:00 by which time the tidal pull from Matanzas Inlet was pulling us along at 7 knots. We went through the shallow water near the inlet at dead low tide following the route recommended on ActiveCaptain and right into the inlet. We're anchored just West of Fort Matanzas and tomorrow we'll take a short hop to St.Augustine. Assuming we get a mooring in the South field we'll stay till Saturday morning, if not, we'll have to skip St.Augustine and head up to Pine Island. We'll see? I wish we had time to go check out the fort. Maybe this fall, again, we'll see?
Fair winds & Smooth sailing,
