Yes, that is our location, but we need to fill in a few blanks.
We launched from Bock Marine Thursday morning 5/12/2016. Our new stuffing box has been working well and we are both pleased and relieved. We had an easy cross of the Nuese River and pulled into River Dunes Marina for fuel, water and a pump out. We had a chance to chat with Donna and Craig from M/V Mighty Fine. Like us they are on their way to Deltaville. I suspect they will get there ahead of us. Once we finished at River Dunes we went back out to anchor on Broad Creek to wait out the bad weather on Friday. We weren't disappointed. Friday was a really stormy day. It was good to be anchored rather than out in the thick of it. Saturday we once again moved to cross the rest of the Pamlico Sound. It was a good day again and the crossing was easy. We stopped that evening at the South entrance to the Alligator-Pungo Canal. The winds blew like stink that night, but the anchor held just fine. Sunday was much cooler. We got an early start through the canal and even though it was pretty windy we really had a nice travel day. We went all the way through the Alligator River and swing bridge to anchor about 5 miles off the ICW on East Lake. It was still pretty windy in East Lake, but at least we weren't bouncing around. Our plan was to sit out Monday and cross the Albemerle Sound early Tuesday morning. Elaine woke up about 07:00 Monday morning, because it was so quiet. She had me check winds on the sound and they seemed to be really lite. We made a quick decision to go out and check conditions on the Albemerle and sure enough it was really calm. We had one of the easiest crossing of the Almemerle that either one of us could remember and we made great time. We decided to stop for fuel, water and another pump out in Coinjock. We should be good now all the way to Deltaville. We didn't get anchored in Blackwater Creek until just before 17:00. It was a long day, but now we can take it easy into Portsmouth. We'll stop at Great Bridge to do some shopping, if we can find room at one of the free docks. If that plan doesn't work out, we plan to try Hampton. It will be our first time anchoring there and we hope it will be a good spot to wait for the weather to move up the Chesapeake Bay to Deltaville. Today we plan to just sit here on the creek.
Fair winds & Smooth sailing,
Elaine & Lawrence S/V Elle & I
