This fort is a citadel where the Union Army planned to place it cannons to defend the Gulf . Built in 1862, this fort never experienced a hostile assault. It has a history that starts with the Civil War, includes the Spanish-American War and includes the Cubin Missile Crisis.
It now protects an esoteric collection of artifacts that reflect Key West.
It also houses Robert thre Doll, whose antics have earned him a special place in the Key West haunted lore. He is very particular about photographs.
There are paintings by Mario Sanchez and junk yard construction by Stanley Papio. In case you are wondering what about the photo ... it is a picture of a rabbit made from junk.
