Travel Day & Repairs

15 August 2012 | Gulfport, Fl to Marathon , Fl Keys
Shirl/warm
I finally returned to Marathon, after my Michigan visit. I had planned to stay two weeks and ended up staying two months. Returning around labor day was a very accurate description of the end of my vacation.

The next several days were occupied with work on Empress. Time was spent on boat repairs. Empress did not like being left alone while I was in Michigan. When I returned to the boat, extensive work had to done on on both heads and the air conditioning. the bottom was cleaned and all marine life sent to grow somewhere else.

Several days and many hours later the boat is back to normal. Humph, all that work and I feel like I am back to where she was when I left for Michigan. Boats are a lot of work!

The next fun event was getting ready for the hurricane. It involved days of preparation. There was a time when I started to think that tornadoes were better. At least the tornado did not give you a weeks warning. There is very little time to fret and slave over your property. With the tornado, bamm and it is all over. It either hit you or missed. At least it would be over quickly. You do not have to spend hours sitting out the storm and wondering if you did enough to protect your property.
