Our favorite harbor and the Giants won!

After leaving the North Sound, we made our way over to Marina Cay and saw the Eric Stone show two nights in a row. The wind was really blowing with some squalls mixed in and just the dinghy ride to Pussers for Happy Hour was a very wet and rough ride. Got the opportunity to visit with Eric a little between sets and he has a new album coming out this summer of original material. We are looking forward to that and are glad we had the opportunity to enjoy his music live so many times.
From there we made the quick jump to Trellis Bay for one night to visit Aragorn Studios for a copper sculpture that Kevin had admired last February. Of course, it had been sold and there was nothing similar available. Kevin met with the artist and they sketched out a custom design and made arrangements for it to be shipped direct to the USA. I have been buying small souvenirs as we move through the islands but this was a major purchase and out of character for Kevin. Kevin is not an impulse buyer AT ALL but he had been wanting this for a year and we won't be back to Trellis again this trip. We can think of our Caribbean adventure everytime we look at it on our wall at home. We can't wait to see the finished product when we get home this summer!
Caribana and Nouveau Jour were with us at Trellis and Marina Cay but then we split up and headed over to Peter Island to see Jim and Amanda and anchor in Little Harbor. Little Harbor is one of our favorite spots in the BVI and we enjoyed getting in the crystal clear water and snorkelling again. Kevin donned his scuba gear and did some boat cleaning and underwater photography. There was one particularly pretty coral head that had a pair of juvenile French Angels hanging out that kept me fascinated and presented some great photo ops. He was not using a digital camera so I can't post any of the pictures here. Sorry.
We entertained Jim and Amanda on Chameleon and it was a total flash back to our Chesapeake days. Jimmy and Kevin dinghied over to Catsy to get something and of course, were gone a lot longer than necessary and returned with a few more beers under their belts and a rosy glow about them. They had boat hopped around the anchorage and Kevin got a beer and a tour on a couple of the other large charter catamarans that were also anchored there between charters. I don't know what Amanda and I were thinking to let them loose on their own but Kevin really enjoyed the time with Jim and they came back with some stories to tell. Just like old times! Amanda and I had a nice visit and really didn't miss them but don't tell them that!
On Sunday AM, we left our idyllic anchorage and headed back out into the wind for the quick trip over to the Bight at Norman Island. We got as close to Pirates as we could but the internet signal was still poor. After a typically amusing visit to the Willie T, we headed into Pirates for the Giants vs San Francisco game, the NFC championship. Unfortunately, they only had it on the 32 inch bar TV and at the wall where they project games, a local band was set up and playing very LOUD music and all the drunks from Willie T were up there dancing to it. This went on until 4th quarter when they mercifully quit for the night and the volume was turned up on the TV. By now there were about 50 hearing impaired people glued to the TV to see the Giants win in overtime. Most of the crowd seemed to be Giants fans so we were a pretty happy group heading back in our dinghies to the mooring field. We had enough of the Bight so we headed back over to Peter on Monday AM and got a great spot to tie up to the dock from our stern. Janet and Sean were there along with Larry and Kathy so we did some more entertaining on Chameleon.
All good things must come to an end. We ran out of bread and more importantly, beer and the provision boat, Deliverance, was broken down. Ballocks! We are now at Nanny Cay, Tortola, in a slip - our first since departing Grenada after Halloween - and we have stores, restaurants, laundromat and fast internet. We will provision (beer) and head back to the USVI to meet up with Brian Powers for the jump to the Spanish Virgins at the end of next week. Weather permitting, of course! Now if we can only find a good spot to watch the Super Bowl in Vieques, we'll be all set!
