But back to having guests- truly a highlight!
Keith, Steve, and I arrived in Koror, Palau, to meet Karen (Keith’s wife, Steve’s sister, my new sister-in-law ☺ We were a bit overdue from a tough six day passage from the Hermit Islands, our last stop in PNG. Highlights /lowlights: interminably rough seas and squally weather for much of it, more unnameable roasted root vegetables and unleavenable home made bread. Nevertheless, a couple days in the middle of the passage were beautiful with clear weather and calm seas, and we were able to fly the spinnaker. We also saw a sad and strange sight of a dead Sperm whale that had apparently been hit by a ship.
We arrived to see Karen’s smiling face at Sam’s Tours, a large dive operation and home to the sole yacht club in Palau. It was great to see Karen, and the four of us had a lot of fun snorkeling, sailing through the famously beautiful Rock Islands, kayaking and taking one arduous hike that unfortunately left me with the Palauan version of poison oak. It was a really relaxing time for all of us.
