June and Tahiti

The Santa Barbara Yacht Club organized a trip to Tahiti in mid June. Since it seemed highly unlikely that we would ever have another opportunity to visit the South Pacific, we decided to join the group. We have chartered in various locations in the past, but always "bare boat". This trip was arranged with a captain and cook in each of the two Lagoon catamarans, with 4 couples per boat. We visited 4 islands in the leeward Society Islands, but our favorite was Huahine. Snorkling was like swimming in an aquarium, air and water tempuratures were idyllic, and the luxury of prepared gourmet meals was remarkable. I've posted some pictures in the gallery, but they can hardly do justice.
After the group part of the trip, Lynel and I spent a few days at a beach bungalow on Mo'orea. It's easy to understand why people come to the South Pacific and decide to never go home.
