Ft. Lauderdale

Stephen
This will be our last night in Ft. Lauderdale. I've reset the trip log to 0 and set up a new gallery for pictures as well as a new category for the blogs.
Ft. Lauderdale has been a most interesting place. Twice we walked through the Las Olas downtown area and the New River riverwalk. Where else could you encounter an over tanned woman pushing a modified hot pink stroller with a white toy poodle in a pink sequined vest? Probably less than one full bite to a bear in Alaska.
Bob and Ulla Gates have been very gracious and generous, and the opportunity to use their private dock was great! This is truly the yachting capitol of the country and our tiny trawler is dwarfed alongside many of the boats. I'll try to get a picture of Steven Spielberg's boat "The Seven Seas" as we leave tomorrow.
The weather has been unsettled, but our jump down to Miami "on the outside" should be no problem tomorrow. Wednesday we plan to travel about half way to Marathon, then on into Skip and Linds's place on Thursday. We plan to stay in Marathon for a week or so, visit Key West, then head back to Miami over the President's Day weekend. Depending on conditions in the Gulf Stream, we hope to clear into the Bahamas at Bimini sometime around February 23 to 25.
"Hi" to all of our friends in Santa Barbara and Longview. Don't be bashful about commenting on the blogs or just dropping a line to keep in touch.
Chris: are you tired of the cold rain yet??
