St Leonards Creek/Patuxant

We left Mills Creek and crossed the bay to Tangier Island. I had called ahead and was assured of a space on the dock at Parks Marina. Milton Parks took the call, and it was interesting listening to an English dialect from 400 years ago. When we arrived we were directed not to the dock, but to a slip that we would need to back into. A strong tidal current was running, but the thrusters were able to handle it. However, as we backed in, the rudder stuck firmly in the mud. The conclusion was clear that Milton did not know the depths in his marina. We tried maneuvering to a different dock, again directed by Milton, but because of continued need for thruster power, we tripped a breaker on the bow thruster. At this point it seemed clear that we were not meant to visit Tangier, so we decided to leave.
We set course for the Patuxant River and went up river to St Leonard Creek where we anchored. As it turned out, this was Memorial Day weekend and we were subjected to a huge testosterone parade: cigarette boats, jet skis, and oiled skin everywhere. We decided to leave in the morning.
