Croton-on-Hudson

We departed Sandy Hook at 0800 for the trip up NY harbor. This is always an interesting passage with tugs, tour boats, and commuter ferries coming from all directions. The Statue of Liberty was as impressive as always, but it looked like both Liberty Island and Ellis Island remain closed for repairs after Sandy.
We stayed close to the Manhattan side up the Hudson, and even got pictures of Grant's Tomb near Barnard where Beth went to college. Further up the river we passed Yonkers, Sing Sing prison, and the Tappan Zee bridge. Croton-on-Hudson is a small village on the east side of the Hudson on Haverstraw Bay. Although not as nice as many places we have stayed, Half Moon Bay marina is an "OK" place to be as we visit West Point, Hyde Park, and other sites in the area.
Tropical storm Andrea is supposed to bring 2 to 4 inches of rain over the next day, so we may end up waiting here a little longer than planned. New York pizza for dinner tonight!
