Tern, Tern, Tern

We had guests! An exhausted arctic tern chick landed on the mizzen boom around 19:00 on Saturday evening after circling the boat several times. What we think were its parents (not sure exactly how arctic terns raise their chicks) hovered about for ages and once we went below deck, also landed on the boom. It was so nice to have some company, such beautiful little birds! They were there all night chirping away so we avoided going on deck too much. Got some pictures though which we'll put up when next in port..wishing I had a better camera, a nice digital SLR would have been perfect for this trip. Sadly the terns left early on Sunday morning and all was quiet on deck again :-( On Sunday afternoon we passed Demarcation Point and have entered into Alaskan waters, so goodbye Canada. We've had the wind behind us and have been zigzagging our way slowly along the coast approximately 40 nm offshore. It hasn't been the best sailing the past 24 hours, with variable wind direction and speed and lumpy seas but its improved today, having gone southeast and strengthened a little. Just looking at the log and since Kirkwall in the Orkneys, Scotland, we've covered 4929.7 nautical miles, that's a fair few! Wondering what my chances of getting a pizza and garlic bread delivered to the boat out here are..or even a latte and Danish pastry, where are those take away coffee boats like in Sydney Harbour?!
