MADE IT BACK TO LA PAZ!

03 January 2011 | Marina de La Paz
Pat
Well, we made it! A few years ago we "cheated death" on the outside of the Baja sailing down; this year we "cheated death" by driving Mex Highway 1 all the way down through the deserts & mountains. I'm not sure which was the most dificult, but it gave us some concerns a couple of times when somebody would pass on a curve or coming to the top of a hill, and there was one spot where the road had crumpled along the edge a couple of feet INTO the roadway. We saw it just in the knick of time - but it caused us to slow down a little and keep a better look out.
It was great stopping in at the fish market in Ensenada, the old marina in Santa Rosalia, staying in a charming place in Loreto, and returning to Marina de La Paz. We have been able to renew old friendships, visit old 'haunts' eat fish-tacos for breakfast, multiple ice-cream cones some days, AND BE WARM WITH NO RAIN OR FOG. Today my goal is to get photos posted. BUT, here is the first shot for all of our buddies who have sailed to Santa Rosalia. This is Carole at THE fish-taco stand near the "Y" in the road (with the old locomotive). We are having breakfast! - Patty & Terry - eat your hearts out.
