Voyage of the ESPIRITU, now it is "THE CONTINUATION OF THE McINTOSH'S WANDERINGS
WI-FI in SF
Pat
02/26/2009, Still in Grandma's house

HI all, it has been sort of busy (compared to cruising Mexico anyway). Here is a shot of our wi-fi connection, which in part explains why we don't do more on the blog site. Please notice that the old fishing pole holding up the mobile antenna is a genuine old bamboo pole! No cheap junk plastic for us, not while we're in San Fran anyway. The last few days it has been pretty good, but for a while who ever controls the signal must have been on vacation, 'cause it was lousy!
Gram's place is coming along fine, and we expect to re-locate to the house on Adelina by first part of April. At that point when I need to be down here for work I'll just have to choose between staying on the boat or the RV. We still love 'livin-in-the-hood'. Actually took the car out and drove it this evening; first time in a while other than my trips to Alameda for work. Carole is an "ANIMAL"! She and her friend across the street walk for a couple hours most mornings, UP these hills around here. I'm a good hubby and get up to make the coffee by the time she gets back. We hear news from our cruising buddies, and we wish we were back south where it is WARM. Only news is that we'll be up in Sac in a couple weeks for Toby's shower, then a quick trip to San Diego to warm up. But we'll be back in time for St. Pat's diner at an exquisite place up on Mission St - - -PISSED OFF PETE'S! He says it will be really good corn-beef & cabbage! I'll see if I can get a pic of the steel door in the sidewalk out front, - it has a shamrock painted on it, woodcha believe!?
See ya, Pat

STILL IN SAN FRANCISCO
Pat
02/09/2009, San Fran

Sorry it has been so long since an update. We keep busy doing stuff here at Gram's house, and some work on the boat (but not enough). If all goes well and on schedule the new electrical system will be completed on the boat THIS WEEK. So we may get out of the slip before long.
We have figured out that the neighborhood is almost like being in Mexico! Same foods, same almost everything (the prices are a bit more, but not like the rest of SF) and we are still about the only ones around speaking English. Oh Yeah, Mexico is about 30 degrees warmer too.
This is a shot of us shopping in Mexico, just a half block from Gram's house! We spent last weekend back in Sacto with friends, and had Friday morning coffee with the Gym Rats. This week end we did the Chinese New Year parade downtown, and I'll (Pat) be doing the new YACHR FEST boat show in a couple weeks over in Alameda. NO, I WON'T LET CAROLE BUY ANOTHER BOAT YET. She did get her photo and a short blurb in Lectronic Latitude this last week, I think it's the same one I posted here. We have heard from some of the other cruisers you have heard us talk about over the last couple years: Doug & Marcy on Charm is down in PV and they are spending lots of time doing land trips and chasing butterflies in the mountains; Ann & Barry on Cat's Paw IV are down under and having a ball, but expect to be back in the 'frozen north' by late spring for a bit; Sun Baby (our cruise-ship for this years Ha Ha) had a letter in Lat38 this month and are in Bara now. Of course there is the bunch from Fleet 4, and all of us are back in California right now.
We'll keep in touch more often, smooth sailing to everybody. Pat & Carole, on the hard in SF

MERRY CHRISTMAS
Pat
12/25/2008, Portland

A Merry and Blessed Christmas to all! Last night Carole and I were remembering Christmas two years ago. This photo is from when we were anchored in Barra De Navidad, in the lagoon, with several old friends and many new friends. It was the first time we had attended a "Posada", and we really enjoyed the Christmas plays the neighborhoods put on; especially the guys who played the devils. This year we are counting SO many blessings in our lives: the twins, Pat & Toby expecting in the Spring, all of our kids healthy and happy, our health very good, the culmination of two years of cruising in Mexico, and Grandma Rose's great life and all she has passed on to her large family. AND so many great friends who are spread out from home to the South Pacific. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
