HI, it has been a while, - - - AND we got out on the water again. Mare, Brent & their kids have been here in S.F. for several days and we got out to ALCATRAZ ISLAND yesterday. (and they even let us all come back) The photo is of us all at Aquatic Park in S.F. enjoying the day. Only ones to get in the water were the kids, ....isn't that a surprise!...... The trip back was a hoot, or a toot, actually a couple of toots. Just as we were leaving the dock to come back in a couple tugs with a gas-barge in tow came by, a USCG cutter was coming in slowly along the City front, and a 35 +/- foot sailboat was coming at us in between the big traffic. So we got a little longer ride than usual since our ferry had to zig & zag a bit. "The Rock" is an interesting place to visit, and it takes several hours to do it justice.
We are down to the end of our time here in SF, and will be moving back to Sacto (Carmichael) the first part of April. - - - GOSH moving is fun! It will be nice to be back 'home' again. Carole & I have talked about how much time we will be spending 'home', and have agreed that we both want to spend as much time as possible ON THE ROAD, OR ON THE SEA, or whatever! So, at least now we will know where everything is piled, if not put away. We have been having a series of gatherings - dinners, here at Gram's and it has been fun, as well as a lot of work. The place looks pretty good, everything works well, and the house is ready for the new tenants (Chris & Ellen Culp) to move in after the first of the month. Other news is that PEREGRINE is ready to go and have some fun. The electrical systems are like a brand new boat. Oh yeah, other news is that at the boat show at Jack London Square in April Carole & I will be part of a panel on cruising the coast of Calif & Mexico. We will spend most of our time on the Sea of Cortez. 'Till later.........

02/26/2009, Still in Grandma's house
HI all, it has been sort of busy (compared to cruising Mexico anyway). Here is a shot of our wi-fi connection, which in part explains why we don't do more on the blog site. Please notice that the old fishing pole holding up the mobile antenna is a genuine old bamboo pole! No cheap junk plastic for us, not while we're in San Fran anyway. The last few days it has been pretty good, but for a while who ever controls the signal must have been on vacation, 'cause it was lousy!
Gram's place is coming along fine, and we expect to re-locate to the house on Adelina by first part of April. At that point when I need to be down here for work I'll just have to choose between staying on the boat or the RV. We still love 'livin-in-the-hood'. Actually took the car out and drove it this evening; first time in a while other than my trips to Alameda for work. Carole is an "ANIMAL"! She and her friend across the street walk for a couple hours most mornings, UP these hills around here. I'm a good hubby and get up to make the coffee by the time she gets back. We hear news from our cruising buddies, and we wish we were back south where it is WARM. Only news is that we'll be up in Sac in a couple weeks for Toby's shower, then a quick trip to San Diego to warm up. But we'll be back in time for St. Pat's diner at an exquisite place up on Mission St - - -PISSED OFF PETE'S! He says it will be really good corn-beef & cabbage! I'll see if I can get a pic of the steel door in the sidewalk out front, - it has a shamrock painted on it, woodcha believe!?
See ya, Pat

Sorry it has been so long since an update. We keep busy doing stuff here at Gram's house, and some work on the boat (but not enough). If all goes well and on schedule the new electrical system will be completed on the boat THIS WEEK. So we may get out of the slip before long.
We have figured out that the neighborhood is almost like being in Mexico! Same foods, same almost everything (the prices are a bit more, but not like the rest of SF) and we are still about the only ones around speaking English. Oh Yeah, Mexico is about 30 degrees warmer too.
This is a shot of us shopping in Mexico, just a half block from Gram's house! We spent last weekend back in Sacto with friends, and had Friday morning coffee with the Gym Rats. This week end we did the Chinese New Year parade downtown, and I'll (Pat) be doing the new YACHR FEST boat show in a couple weeks over in Alameda. NO, I WON'T LET CAROLE BUY ANOTHER BOAT YET. She did get her photo and a short blurb in Lectronic Latitude this last week, I think it's the same one I posted here. We have heard from some of the other cruisers you have heard us talk about over the last couple years: Doug & Marcy on Charm is down in PV and they are spending lots of time doing land trips and chasing butterflies in the mountains; Ann & Barry on Cat's Paw IV are down under and having a ball, but expect to be back in the 'frozen north' by late spring for a bit; Sun Baby (our cruise-ship for this years Ha Ha) had a letter in Lat38 this month and are in Bara now. Of course there is the bunch from Fleet 4, and all of us are back in California right now.
We'll keep in touch more often, smooth sailing to everybody. Pat & Carole, on the hard in SF
