We meet Black Jack

After two nights in Fawn Harbour moved to Viani, On our approach we could see areas that had been affected by the cyclone and all the tops ripped off the palm trees. Could not believe that we were the only boat there This anchorage is usually very crowded and it is difficult to find a spot to anchor and avoid bommies. Tried at the head of the bay near Black Jacks Moorings but seemed to be a lot of coral so we moved over to near the mangroves where we hoped there would be some mud. Did some swimming although water not really clear enough to snork. Black Jack arrived to tell us we could have one of his moorings, they would be better than where we were because there were lots of bommies. I did not take up his offer as we had already been there 24hrs and if we were wrapped around some coral it would have happened already. He then offered a trip to the reef, or a trip to Taveuni in our own boat (he likes driving other peoples boats) and then when he heard Chris had a bad back he said that his daughter could give him a massage - that is the third massage he has been offered this week!
Leaving was problematic, anchor chain was snagged on coral we tried to gently giggle free but eventually had to reverse out hard and pull free. Luckily weather stayed fine while we played around. We passed along by Taveuni as usual there was current and wind but today not excessive and we had a good trip. Taveuni always looks rather foreboding, permanently capped in cloud and although it has plentiful water it looks grey/green rather than the vibrant greens of the other islands
