Anna and Serina

This week has been calm and sunny . We have been anchored off Kapa Island which is one of my favorite anchorages .
We went ashore to explore and to climb the mountain behind the village hoping to get a magnificent view of all the islands around and some photos. We met a group of village children carrying a huge saucepan back to their house, two of whom Anna and Serena decided to stay with us. They said they knew a better path to the top. We left the village and climbed through the jungle following the paths made by the wild pigs and villagers when foraging. Were shown a pig wallow and saw a couple of th pigs making a rapid exit, they are much more agile than home pigs. Serena climbed and orange tree to pick us fruit, she looked quite at home in the tree using small fragile branches that did not look adequate for her weight. We climbed for an hour meeting people collecting and chopping the 'meat' coconuts for their pigs and another couple cutting pandanus which they would then soak in the sea and dry so that it could be made into mats. Huge spiders webs were strung across the path and I had a close encounter with its owner when I walked int it. The summit was disappointing as was overgrown and we could not see the view, we should have probably followed the track from the other side.
